Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
Colleen MacKay is a Registered Dietitian who graduated in 2011 with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Saskatchewan. She is currently registered with the College of Dietitians of Alberta. Most of her work so far has been seeing clients as outpatients for a variety of nutritional concerns, but she also has experience in an inpatient hospital setting.
Colleen’s main goal as a RD is to help her clients realize that is is possible to have a healthy food relationship and make peace with food, even if they have experienced or are experiencing severe eating disorders. She loves to guide and support clients as they learn to be more relaxed around food, ditching the diet culture mentality. It is amazing when people begin to realize they can actually enjoy all of the delicious foods that are out there! She stands by the philosophy that the world is meant to have a variety of body shapes and sizes, and that size diversity is something to be celebrated.
Establishing healthy food relationships right from the beginning is something Colleen is passionate about, so childhood nutrition is another focus area of her practice. Going through all of these eating stages with her own children has been a great learning opportunity that is sure to continue.
Colleen keeps active in her personal life. Part of her healthy lifestyle includes coaching Crossfit in Red Deer and chasing around her 2 children (and one more on the way!). Her love of food includes cakes and cupcakes, which she bakes for weddings, birthdays and more. Colleen also loves using her spare time to sew trendy kids clothing for many of the kids in her life.
